1. Zip World Llechwedd
Zip World has been one of the great success stories to come out of the UK tourism industry over the past decade. There are now four Zip World sites across the North Wales region, each of which has something unique to offer to tourists.
If the weather is forcing you to look for indoor activities in North Wales, then you would be best heading to the Zip World site in Llechwedd. Located in Snowdonia National Park, this Zip World site is home to the world’s first underground crazy golf course and a fantastic underground trampoline course which covers an area twice the size of St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Built into the caves underneath the famous Blaenau Ffestiniog slate caverns, you can be confident that the many indoor activities available here will be operational in almost all weather conditions.
2. SC2 Rhyl
Rhyl is the ultimate family seaside holiday destination, but you don’t have to limit your visits to the summer in order to have a great time. There are also plenty of indoor attractions in the town to keep you entertained, including the SC2 which is located on the famous Rhyl seafront.
SC2 is the new and improved version of the popular Sun Life Centre which established itself as one of the most popular water parks in the region during the 1990s. This new complex features an upgraded waterpark and a number of additional indoor activities including a thrilling Ninja Assault course and a soft play area for smaller children.
While there is plenty to do for adults as well as children, those of you with lower energy levels may prefer to take up position in the on-site café which serves a wide range of hot foods, snacks and beverages.
3. Glasfryn Parc
Another popular seaside town with plenty of indoor attractions in North Wales is Pwllheli. While Pwllheli is located roughly a one hour drive away from Tan Rallt Holiday Park, it is well worth the trip if you are planning on paying a visit to Glasfryn Parc which is brimming with activity options.
If it’s raining, then you probably won’t be too concerned about getting your hair wet. If that is the case then you may well be interested in taking on the thrilling outdoor water park at Glasfryn Parc. Here you can try your hand at wakeboarding, kayaking, paddleboarding or even completing their fun water based obstacle course.
If you would prefer to shelter yourself away from the rain, then you will also have the option of enjoying a fun family game of ten pin bowling in the on-site complex which is also home to a soft play area for smaller children. Irrespective of the weather conditions, Glasfryn Parc is the perfect indoor attraction in North Wales for families with children of all ages.
4. Penderyn Distillery
Now for something that will appeal more to the adults of the group. Penderyn has decided to open its doors and invite whisky lovers into its Llandudno based distillery for a one hour tour of their incredible facilities.
Here you will learn all about how their single malt Welsh whisky is created. This includes getting the opportunity to see first hand the equipment that is utilised to create their award winning tipple. At the end of the tour, you’ll then be invited to try a couple of samples for yourself at their tasting bar.
This is the ideal day out for whisky lovers, and the perfect indoor attraction in North Wales on a rainy day. There is even a store available on-site in case you would like to stock up on their whisky or purchase one of their other award winning alcoholic beverages which includes gins, vodkas, rums and liqueurs.
5. National Slate Museum
History buffs looking for indoor attractions in North Wales need look no further than the National Slate Museum in Caernarfon. Located in the disused Dinorwic quarry, the museum is dedicated towards preserving the memory of the North Wales slate industry which once dominated the region.
Inside the museum you’ll have the chance to learn more about the working lives of employees during the Victorian era and see first hand the various equipment that was used, including the largest remaining waterwheel in Britain.
Alongside this there are also a number of exhibits set up to educate visitors about the home lives of workers during the Victorian era.
