Best Things to Do in Abergele

21 June 2024

Tan Rallt Holiday Park may be surrounded by miles of gorgeous North Wales countryside, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of things to see and do in the surrounding region. In fact, there is something for all the family with everything from family farm parks to challenging golf courses.

That is why our resort really does provide you with the best of both worlds, as you can enjoy the tranquillity on park before heading to one of the many fun attractions nearby.

You don’t even need to do the hard bit of working out which attractions to visit because we’ve done it all for you with our list of the very best things to do in Abergele:

1. Manorafon Farm Park

Manorafon Farm Park is the ultimate family attraction as it provides a little bit of something for people of all ages. You’ll be given the opportunity to meet the many animals who live on the farm, with its ranks being made up of cute bunnies, friendly ponies, crazy goats and curious alpacas. There is even a reptile house on-site for those of you who aren’t won over by the furry look.

Apart from meeting the animals, families are also given the opportunity to watch pig racing or take advantage of the many children’s play areas which are made up of trampolines, traditional play areas, electric tractor racing and a digger zone where the little ones can get behind the wheel of a JCB for the first time.

You don’t even need to pack a picnic with there being a well regarded restaurant on-site called the Greedy Goat. Here they serve light bites, snacks and hot food options including hot dogs and jacket potatoes. Ice cream is also served which is the perfect accompaniment to a day spent exploring the farm.

2. Gwrych Castle

If you watched some of the recent series of ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here’ then you may well have heard of Gwrych Castle which was used as the setting for 2020 and 2021 editions of the hit ITV reality series.

You can pay this castle a visit on your next trip to Tan Rallt Holiday Park, with the attraction being located approximately 4 miles away from our resort. Tourists are given the opportunity to enjoy a guided tour of this 19th century stately home where you can explore the sets that were used on the ITV series and learn more about the colourful history of this grade 1 listed country house which was Lloyd Hesketh Bamford-Hesketh.

There are also numerous events held at the castle throughout the year including summer artisan markets, spooky ghost tours and much more. Keep your eyes peeled on the Tan Rallt Holiday Park blog for more information over the coming months.

3. The Silver Birch Golf Club

One of the great advantages which come with owning a holiday home at Tan Rallt Holiday Park is our close proximity to the Silver Birch Golf Club which is just over 2 miles away from our resort.

This is obviously a major coup for golf enthusiasts, giving them the opportunity to get a little practice in on one of the best golf courses in the county each and every time they frequent their holiday home

However, don’t stop reading yet if golf isn’t really the thing for you because Silver Birch Golf Club is also one of the most popular Foot Golf venues in the UK. This fast growing sport is great fun for all the family and is sure to go down well with any children who haven’t quite got the patience for the more traditional game of golf.

4. The Peculiar Gallery

Located slap bang in the middle of Abergele town centre, the Peculiar Gallery claims that it is a great attraction to visit for the “pathologically curious”. Here you will find a wide collection of contemporary and antique works of art made up of paintings, sculptures, antiques, jewellery and ceramics.

We stock a large selection of contemporary and antique art works, (including painting, sculptures, prints, and ceramics), antiques, jewellery, books with loads more curious and unusual items.

The gallery is run by an international award winning artist who goes to great lengths to exhibit works by other talented artists in the North Wales region.

5. Pensarn Beach

You can’t go to North Wales without enjoying a day at the beach which is why we’d highly recommend making a trip to Pensarn Beach.

This shingled beach is one of the quieter in the region, providing tourists with the opportunity to take long peaceful walks along the beautiful North Wales coastal path which stretches all the way to the Great Orme. These walks can also be taken with your pooch, with the vast majority of the beach being dog friendly throughout the year.

If you are looking to partake in something a little more adrenaline fuelled, then you will be pleased to hear that Pensarn Beach is a popular canoeing and windsurfing destination.
