Best Shops in Conwy Town Centre
Conwy is about much more than just a castle, with the town centre being awash with an eclectic selection of unique local traders and high street stores offering everything from children’s toys to vintage antiques. It doesn’t matter how old you are or what you are interested in, Conwy is sure to have a shop which appeals to you.
Before we go any further, we should point out at this point that many of you may be wondering where Drew’s shop is located in Conwy. For those of you who aren’t aware, Drew Pritchard is a local antiques dealer who became famous by starring in the hit TV show Salvage Hunters. He opened his own antiques store on Conwy High Street back in 2017 which drew visitors from across the UK. Sadly, Drew has recently decided to focus on being an online only business.
Nevertheless, there are still a wide selection of great shops in Conwy that are just waiting to be explored. Here are some of our favourites in no particular order:
20th Century Modern Antiques & Collectables
Just because Drew’s store has closed doesn’t mean that there aren’t antique shops in Conwy. Perhaps the best of the remaining antiques stores in the town is 20th Century Modern Antiques & Collectables on the main high street.
Run by local antiques expert Catherine Davies, this store offers a wide selection of items ranging from jewellery and watches, to ornaments and furnishings. It is well worth a visit if you fancy kitting out your holiday home with a few retro or vintage apparel.
Yesteryears Toy Shop
If you are looking for children’s toy shops in Conwy, then look no further than the charming Yesteryears.
Situated on the main high street, Yesteryears Toy Shop sells traditional style toys such as dominoes, marbles and finger puppets alongside slightly more contemporary must haves including board games, cute picture story books and fidget spinners.
With its mix of retro and modern day toys, Yesteryears is sure to delight parents just as much as it does children.
Mayall’s Music Co.
Located on Bangor Road right next to Baravelli’s is Mayall’s - the only music shop in Conwy. However, this isn’t just an old fashioned record shop, instead it sells a wide variety of musical instruments made up of pianos, keywords, orchestral instruments and guitars.
Here you can explore a wide selection of brand new and pre-owned musical instruments which are designed to accommodate a wide range of budgets. Irrespective of whether you are looking to learn to play an instrument for the first time or seeking to add yet another guitar to your collection, the knowledgeable guys in store will be able to steer you in the right direction.
If you love music but don’t play yourself, then you may also wish to browse through their selection of classic vinyl records.
Best Clothes Shops in Conwy
One thing that Conwy isn’t short of is clothing stores. However, it would be unfair of us to name just one of these outlets in this post given the different styles and preferences that people tend to have. Instead, we thought that we’d highlight some of the most popular options.
If you are looking for ladies clothes shops in Conwy, then you are in luck as there seems to be a store to accommodate all kinds of requirements. Two options are Sage Boutique on Castle Street and Missy & Mabel in Lancaster Square, both of which sell a range of jewellery and clothing which is quite unlike the kind you would find on the general high street.
However, if you do prefer your standard high street fare then you can always pay a visit to FatFace which is again on the main high street. Here you can purchase clothing for men, women and children.
If you are looking for a more unique collection of men's clothing meanwhile, you can pop next door and visit Smart Ass Menswear which offers designer clothing from the likes of Barbour, Superdry and Original Penguin.
Gift Shops in Conwy
If you are enjoying a holiday at Tan Rallt Holiday Park and looking for some gift items to take back with you for friends and family, then you will have a number of great gift shops in Conwy to choose from.
One of which is the aptly named ‘Conwy Gift Shop’ which is situated on Castle Street. This is particularly good for children’s souvenirs as it sells a wide selection of cuddly bears and toys which have a castle theme. Perfect if your little knight is looking to source his own sword and shield.
The Conwy Visitor Centre is a better option if you are looking for more general gifts with a Welsh theme. Here you will be able to source your usual gift shop selection of magnets, fudge and postcards.
