Celebrate World Ocean Day on one of North Wales’ beautiful beaches

One of the most incredible things about the North Wales coast is its beautiful beaches. Here at Tan Rallt we’re lucky to have a great selection right on our doorstep!

So to celebrate World Ocean Day 2020 we’ve rounded up our Top 5 favourite beaches to visit when you stay with us here at Tan Rallt Holiday Park.

And don’t forget – let us know what you think of these suggestions and tag us on social media using the hashtag #TRTravelTips

1. Pensarn Beach

10 minutes from Tan Rallt

A beautiful pebble and sand beach, Pensarn Beach is part of the Welsh Coastal Path. Popular with walkers and cyclists the promenade offers great views out to the Irish Sea. For this beach you can see right across the North Wales coastline – from Rhyl Sky Tower all along to the Great Orme, Llandudno.

Pensarn beach is dog friendly all year round, perfect for owners or guests in our pet friendly accommodation who don’t want to leave their four legged friend at home.

2. Colwyn Bay Beach

10 minutes from Tan Rallt

Colwyn Bay Beach isn’t just one of the closest beaches to Tan Rallt, it’s also one of our favourites!

This stunning Blue Flag Beach is over 3 miles long, so there’s lots of space more sunbathing and sand castle building! The promenade stretches the entire length of the beach and links Colwyn Bay to the coastal town of Rhos-on-Sea, so it’s perfect if you’re looking for a day trip.

There’s also plenty of parking nearby, and a fantastic watersports centre if you want to go sailing or kayaking.

This beach is restricted to dogs, so please check if you are on one of the designated dog friendly areas if you’re taking your pets along.

3. Llandudno North Shore

20 minutes from Tan Rallt

The most iconic beach on our list, Llandudno is called the Queen of Seaside Resorts for a reason!

This 3 mile bay stretches from the Little Orme, where you can watch seal pups laze on the shore at Angel Bay, right up to the Great Orme, home to some internet famous Kashmiri Goats. There are paddling pools next to the beach open during summer for those who don’t fancy a dip in Llandudno Bay! There’s also lots to explore on Llandudno Pier, so we think that a visit to the North Shore is worth a whole day trip!

4. Conwy Morfa Beach

20 minutes from Tan Rallt

Conwy Morfa Beach is a large sandy beach with beautiful views. The sand dunes are the perfect setting for bird watching! The surrounding scenery is what makes this beach really special. There’s also great free parking.

Dog access to Conwy Morfa Beach is restricted.

5. Barkby Beach

30 minutes from Tan Rallt

Barkly Beach is a beautiful long, sandy beach near Prestatyn. Thanks to the breakwater and the choppy conditions this beach is perfect for sailing or windsurfing. You can even go jet-skiing if you have a permit!

Barkby Beach is restricted to dogs in throughout the summer, so take care to check ahead.
