Defibrillator Installed at Tan Rallt | May 2019

We are proud to announce the arrival of our defibrillator at Tan Rallt

At Tan Rallt we are very happy to to announce the arrival of our defibrillator. This is to help safeguard the welfare of our owners, visitors and staff in the event of a cardiac arrest. They are important lifesaving tools. We are prepared if needed. However, we hope they won’t be required on our park.

Any member of the public can use a defibrillator. The machine will also give clear instructions. Therefore, no prior training is required. It will also guide the user through the steps that need to be taken.

You’ll find the defibrillator in the telephone box which is opposite reception.

What is a defibrillator?

Described as ‘a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest’. Defibrillation is the name of the shock and is an essential part to save a life.

The evidence to support early defibrillation is overwhelming. The delay from collapse to delivery of the first shock is the single most important factor of survival. Survival rates can be as high as 75% if delivered promptly. The chances of successful defibrillation decline at a rate of about 10% with each minute of delay. Therefore having a defibrillator on our park is highly beneficial.

How to use one

In the event that you need to access the defibrillator to assist someone suffering from a suspected cardiac arrest, then call 999 to request an ambulance. After that, the ambulance service will give you the cabinet access code once they have confirmed that they are dealing with a genuine cardiac arrest. For non-emergencies call 0845 4647.
