Winterisation is the process of preparing you holiday caravan for the cold months of winter. Whilst most of your modern caravans are designed to operate normally through the winter months, however with the closing of park you won’t be using your home normally. Without proper winterisation preparations things can go seriously wrong.
Follow this handy guide to winterising your caravan so that when you return in the spring there should be no problems.
Visiting your holiday home for winter holidays? At Tan Rallt we offer a drain service for £75, that can be booked at reception. The service includes a complete emptying or draining water from all pipework, the disconnection of water from your caravan and the use of anti-freeze in all drains. Also, we will disconnect your home from the gas and all electrical appliances. We also salt your caravan which helps to prevent damp. There service also includes a drain up service for when you return to your home in spring. Too book your service and prepare for the winter months call 01492 516652.
If you do not take the right precautions damp can become a serious problem. Give your holiday home an early spring clean, removing all soft furnishings and food as you go. This will keep the damp at bay and ensure that there are no perishable goods left to fester in your home over the winter months. If you choose to use our drain down service, salt will be strategically placed around your holiday home preventing damp. Another good idea is to cover all your furniture and move it to the middle room. This will allow airflow and prevent mould and mildew brewing up on your furniture.
Tie down all your outside furniture. This will ensure it is with your static caravan when you return in the spring and there is no damage. Do not forget to lock the door. As stupid as this may seem this can easily be overlooked as people look to get away , they forget the most important thing.
