Supporting the Welsh Air Ambulance
Tan Rallt’s Chosen Charity for 2014/15
Here at Tan Rallt we pride ourselves on being a family run business who cares about the local community of North Wales.
That’s why this 2014/15 season we will be supporting the Welsh Air Ambulance Service.
About the Welsh Air Ambulance Service
We’re exceptionally lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world, North Wales is filled with areas of outstanding natural beauty but when time is of the essence our landscape can prove quite challenging. In Wales there is over 8,000 sq miles of remote countryside, expansive mountain ranges and over 800 miles of coastline. This means that many people in Wales live in isolated areas, which are far from large or specialist hospitals and that a road ambulance is not a feasible option for transporting someone in an emergency.
In Wales our ambulance service is supplemented by three helicopters which cover North, Mid and South Wales. These are based at Caernafon (North Wales), Welshpool (Mid Wales) and Swansea (South Wales).
Each helicopter can be launched within 3 minutes of receiving an emergency call. From the three airbases, a helicopter can be anywhere in Wales within just 20 minutes!
How we are going to help
As you can imagine the Welsh Air Ambulance Service is incredibly important In order to continue their great work the charity needs to raise £6 million every year to operate the service. The charity raises all the funds required for the day-to-day running of missions, with each mission on average costing £1500.
This summer there is a charity walk from Colwyn Bay, North Wales (just down the road from Tan Rallt!) all the way to Cardiff. It will take 8 days and an awful lot of stamina. Tan Rallt are sponsoring Rhys Merion, the acclaimed Welsh tenor, to do the walk.
We’ll also be collecting donations at Charity events planned throughout this season, we’ve already got a head start with the £500 raised at The Cliffs Bar & Restaurant Opening Night!
